Within an area stretching from the valleys of the Pyrenees to the hills of the Dordogne lies the Midi-Pyrenees, one of the largest regions of France.
A region full of small medieval villages, ancient towns, Romanesque churches and chateaux, beautiful hills and amazing mountain and lakeland scenery.

The capital of the region is Toulouse, the fourth largest city in France. It has a wealthy past which has resulted in some elaborate and amazing architecture such as the "maison d'Assezat", which houses the Bemberg foundation and its art collection.
The Cathedrale Saint-Cecile is one of the largest brick building in the world and is a striking example of Gothic architecture.

Its famous sons include Toulouse-Lautrec, an nineteenth century Impressionist whose was famous for his sketches of Paris.

Travel in the region can be on a barge along the Canal du Midi, a waterway that links Toulouse with the Mediterannean sea or by boat along the Lot river which carves a path through the region's limestone cliffs.

It is a region famous for its gastronomy, where you can sample excellent foie gras, cassoulet and Roquefort and of course drink excellent local wines.

Midi-Pyrenees is a traditionally agricultural region that produces a wide variety of crops including maize, tobacco, soya, sunflowers, and wheat plus a large range of vegetables and fruits.

It is a great place to visit and offers something for everybody all year round including skiing in the winter months.

There is a private terrace which has exterior tables and chairs for al fresco dining. The courtyard opens onto a large treed garden and a pool (shared with our houseguests).
