Burgundy (Bourgogne) in France is one of the most revered wine region of this country. It has a heritage dating back many hundreds of years.
Famous for some of the greatest wines in France, it includes the regions of Beaune, Chablis, Beaujolais, Macon...

One of the best areas is the Cote d’Or, which runs just south of Dijon to Beaune, where you can find many famous vintages such as Nuit St Georges, Clos de Vougeot, Chambolle-Musigny, Gevrey-Chambertin...

The town of Beaune with its huge underground cellars is well worth a visit, not only because of its vinicultural history but it has some fine examples of architecture and mosaic roofs including that of the Hospice de Beaune.

Burgundy includes the towms of Dijon, well-known now for its spicy mustards, Cluny famous for its churches, Vezelay for the Romanesque Basilica of Sainte-Madeleine, and smaller towns such as the medieval town of Noyers sur Serein (one of the most beautiful in France) and Epoisses where the famous cheese is made.

It includes many other interesting places and sites such as Fontenay's Cistercian Abbey (one of the oldest Cistercian monasteries in Europe), the Morvan, a region in the heart of Burgundy listed as one of the 40 French regional parks and which offers a multitude of outdoor activitities such as canoeing, skiing, horse riding, cycling, climbing & fishing.
A favourite spot for walkers and white water sports enthusiasts, the Morvan has a wild and unspoiled beauty.
