Accommodation (Self Catering Apartment, sleeps: 2)
People have lived here and the land has been farmed since well before the Middle Ages – possibly even in Etruscan times. Set in a wooded valley in the Apennine foothills, near the tiny village of Corbezzi, this group of farm dwellings is five miles from the historic market town of Pistoia, in northwest Tuscany.
Our farmhouse has the great advantage of being immersed in the countryside among woods and olives groves with absolutely no traffic, while, at the same time, it is only a few minutes’ drive from a main road – and two minutes’ walk from a little railway station.
The guest flat adjoins our house, but has its own entrance through a shaded loggia (for al fresco dining!), into a kitchen-cum-living room. On the same floor, there is a bathroom with bath, shower, WC, washbasin and bidet. Upstairs, the double/can be twin- bedroom has an enchanting view of the morning sun!
You are welcome to sunbathe in our orchard, or relax in our grounds, among the olive groves or in the sweet-chestnut woods. Taste our own olive oil, local acacia and chestnut honey, fresh fruit and vegetables – all organic!

Trains (20 daily) connect our little railway station with the charming historic market town of Pistoia, fortunately undiscovered by mass tourism! The mountain spa of Porretta is a 30-minute ride away, the Versilian coast, about an hour.
And all the historic towns – Florence, Lucca, Pisa, don’t forget Bologna! – are within easy reach along the tracks.
Corbezzi, our village, in addition to the railway station, proudly offers a village shop, which is also the bar and sells the train tickets! We even have a small post office open twice weekly. Ten minutes’ walk away is an excellent trattoria, serving Tuscan country cooking. Several other restaurants can be reached by train or car.
There are many pleasant walks in the woods. Only three minutes away by train, there is a beautiful panoramic swimming pool. There are small museums, illustrating the rural economy based on olives, chestnuts, iron, ice making, among other things.
You can enjoy good music and theatre in several nearby towns. July brings Pistoia’s International Jazz Festival. Or what about a Puccini open-air opera in the stunning surroundings of his own lake?
The high tops of the Apennines offer beautiful walks at over 2000 meters above sea level. In winter, skiing at Abetone or Corno alle Scale is a short drive away.
