Accommodation (Self Catering Gite, sleeps: 4)
La Petite Ecurie (sleeps 4)
- A newly renovated gite in what was once the stables. With an Internal floor area of 80 square metres
- The gite retains features from its former role as a stable; walls of local stone are warmly lit during the early evenings with soft yellow and ochre light.
Bedrooms
- One bedroom offers a queen size bed (160 cms) and has an ensuite with shower, toilet and basin. Bed lamps, side tables, chest of drawers provide adequate storage.
- The second bedroom has two single beds and an ensuite bathroom with bath/shower, toilet and handbasin.
- All bedrooms and bathrooms have electric radiators.
- The bedrooms are on the upper floor of the gite.
- All bed linen and bathroom towels are supplied.
Lounge
- Relaxing in comfortable sofas whilst reading or watching a DVD, listening to music, or playing a game of cards - all is possible in the lounge area of La Petite Ecurie.
- This space is open plan, cleverly designed to incorporate a dining area, and a living area without losing any feeling of space.
- There is a wood-burning fire for those evenings when there is a slight chill in the air.
Kitchen
- When we planned the kitchen, we thought of the cook. How can one come to France and not want to sample some of the wonderful produce purchased fresh from the morning market?
- Good knives, plenty of work space, a large fridge/freezer, hob, microwave, oven and dishwasher are installed, ready for any creation. There is even a selection of cookery books to inspire.
- An exterior bbq is provided for al fresco dining. If guests wish, they may dine with the owners, John and Lee-anne, next door in their Chambres and Tables d'Hotes, L'Impasse du Temple or sample any of the 20 or more nearby restaurants.
- Double glazed windows and doors protect against extremes of weather. La Petite Ecurie invites guests to enter into holiday mode immediately.
Locality (close to: Léran)
La Petite Ecurie has a private terrace which has exterior tables and chairs for al fresco dining.
The courtyard opens onto a large treed garden and a pool (shared with our houseguests). Sun lounges and towels are available for use. Children must be supervised at all times. Enjoy the tranquil setting under the dappled sun or lounge by the pool between refreshing dips.
We are in the village of Léran, a traditional French village 100 kms from Toulouse, which is the nearest international airport. Access to and from the airport is extremely easy as Toulouse is 'girt' by a peripherique which bypasses the centre of Toulouse. It connects to the autoroute going west to Bordeaux/Paris and east to Carcassonne, Narbonne and the Mediterranean. The Salvaza airport at Carcassonne is serviced by internal French flights as well as budget flights from England via RyanAir.
Trains run from Toulouse to Foix and Pamiers, although it is easier to hire a car at Toulouse (Blagnac) airport or Carcassonne. It is suggested that people hire diesel cars because it is cheaper. Smaller cars are easier here because you will be driving through villages with narrow streets and wandering along winding country roads hedged by wild herbs and flowers.
We are 3.5 hours from Barcelona, 90 minutes from Andorra.
It is possible to drive to the Mediterranean from here (approx 90 minutes) or into the Pyrénees to find towns with thermal spas.
