Accommodation (Self Catering Cottage, sleeps: 4)
Maddington House is the family home of Dick and Joan Robathan who's aim is to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The beautiful Grade II listed house, which dates back to the 17th century, has many fine features and is mentioned in Nikolaus Pevner's Buildings of England, Wiltshire'.
Within the grounds are the Cottage and the Hayloft - both self catering holiday units.
The Cottage (sleeps 4) comprises:
- A large double room with king sized bed and ample wardrobe & cupboard space.
- A small twin bedded room, with lovely old beams.
- A bathroom - a bath with shower attachment and shaver point
- A beamed kitchen with dining areawell equipped with electric cooker, microwave, washing machine, fridge, freezer and ironing facilities
- The sitting room with exposed brickwork/beams has a TV, video, radio/CD/cassette player. Broadband Internet available.
- Full central heating
- Walled garden - mainly lawn and flower beds and garden furniture.
- Car parking and separate entrance
- All services - electricity, heating oil, towels, bed linen etc.
- All included in the price. All you may need is your toothbrush !
- Children 7+ welcome
Hayloft (sleeps 2)
- The Hayloft is a newly converted annexe attached to the rear of the house, comfortable, quiet, and tastefully furnished.
- It has twin beds (which can be made into a kingsized bed)
- an en suite shower room
- a small kitchen downstairs with a refrigerator, combi microwave, twin electric hob, toaster, kettle etc.
- There is off road parking, and use of the walled garden.
- Heating, electric, sheets, towels etc are all included.
- Broadband Internet available.
Locality (close to: Shrewton)
The village of Shrewton boasts many pretty houses, 3 pubs which provide good food, a post office, garage and a couple of shops, all within walking distance.
The George Pub, in Shrewton, photographed here some years ago, is still here, but it might have changed a bit!!'
Maddington House is an ideal base for sightseeing. Stonehenge is less than 5 minutes away, while the historic cathedral city of Salisbury is within 15 minutes drive.
Wilton, Longleat, Broadlands, Winchester, Devizes, Avebury and the New Forest are close by, as are numerous National Trust properties, country gardens and other attractions. Bath, Oxford, Portsmouth and Windsor are all within about an hour's drive.

Tariff Range: from 165 to 500 GBP per week
Self Catering Cottage
Minimum stay 2 nights (out of main seasons) from £250 - £420 per week
Self Catering Hayloft Annexe
Minimum stay 2 nights (out of main seasons) from £165 - £280 per week
Arival time, 5 pm, departure time 11 am, normally Saturday
Breakfast can be provided at extra cost in the cottage. A starter pack of immediate food can be provided at cost.
Payment, we do not accept debit/credit cards. Reservations with 25% deposit of full cost, and we strongly recommend a cancellation insurance is taken out by guests. Balance payments must be made 8 weeks prior to start of holiday.
