This charming Logis was originally built as a gentleman's residence with a Manor house and private vineyard, then later became a working farm . It has since been sympathetically restored to provide this detached Owners farmhouse and 4 separate quality self catering holiday cottages.
The Owners let this farmhouse by special arrangement at certain times during the summer, otherwise they occupy the house themselves.
Approached through grand entrance gates at the end of a private tree lined driveway, providing shaded parking, the farmhouse and cottages all overlook the picturesque fountained courtyard.
La Chataigne, traditionally described as a Maison de Maitre, the largest property on the Logis estate
- has a private south facing garden leading to a heated swimming pool
- The house retains many original features including polished wooden floors, flagstones and log fires
- Entered through double oak doors from the main courtyard into an imposing hall with sweeping wooden staircase, the ground floor comprises a large drawing room room with stone fireplace, digital tv & video, a formal dining room with seating for 12 persons
- a large well equipped kitchen with range style cooker, double oven and gas hob, microwave & dishwasher
- leading onto an open plan breakfast room overlooking fields
- laundry room with washing machine & tumble dryer
- Upstairs leads to four large bedrooms, two of which each have a double bed, wardrobes and ensuite shower room, toilet & wash basin.
- There are two further bedrooms, one with a double bed and 4 single beds and wardrobes and the other with a double bed and bunkbeds and wardrobe.
- There is also a family bathroom with separate bath and shower cubicle, toilet and wash basin.
Outdoors
- a mature garden with patio table and chairs and brick built BBQ
- leads to the private heated swimming pool and communal gardens, all south facing
- La Chataigne has the private use of an 8 x 4m heated swimming pool with a large sunbathing terrace, sunloungers and parasols
- There is a poolside bar where you can buy drinks and ice creams and poolhouse with shower, WC and wash basin
- In the communal gardens, there is a further heated pool shared by the 4 cottages, Boule court, grass short tennis, badminton , swings and sandpit
- In the Grange, an open barn, there is a common games room with table tennis, a pool table, bar football and air hockey all floodlit at night.
- At the end of the gardens there is a country lane leading down to the River Boutonne and woodlands with an abundance of wildlife ideal for picnics, walking and cycling.
The region enjoys a wonderful warm and sunny climate and the surrounding countryside of sunflower fields and vineyards, makes this a perfect setting for a memorable relaxing holiday.
