Originally built as a gentleman's residence with a Manor house and vineyard, this 18th Century Charentaise Logis later became a working farm and now restored to provide a detached Owners farmhouse and 4 quality self catering holiday cottages. Approached through grand entrance gates at the end of a private avenue lined with chestnut trees, the Logis is set in 2 acres of landscaped gardens with raquet sports, two heated swimming pools and common games room .
At the end of the garden there is a country lane leading down to the River Boutonne and woodlands with an abundance of wildlife ideal for picnics, walking and cycling. A local restaurant, a fairytale Chateau with a park and lake, a trout farm selling fresh and smoked fish and a boulangerie where you can buy fresh daily bread and croissants are all within walking distance.
L'Ecurie, has a spacious open plan kitchen with dining table and chairs and equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher, gas oven, microwave and fridge freezer. An arch leads into a sitting room with some exposed stonework and staircase to the first floor. The sitting room is comfortably furnished with a large sofa, armchair and coffee table and is equipped with a mini Hi-fi music system, DVD player and satellite TV which gets some English-language digital channels
Rear French doors open onto a private courtyard garden with patio table and chairs and BBQ
Upstairs there is a family shower room with wash hand basin and WC
two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other twin beds. The bedrooms feature attractive French style bedsteds and wardrobes with hanging space and drawers.

Logis de Lussais is located in the centre of the Poitou-Charentes, famous for its cognac, pineau, oysters, mussles and goats cheeses. It is within easy reach of the sandy beaches at La Rochelle and Royan and the lovely islands of Oleron, Aix and Re, some of which are suitable for surfing and water sports.
There are various locations for canoeing, kayaking and dinghy sailing on sheltered lakes and along the River Charente and a variety of zoos, leisure parks and other attractions to entertain the family including the 'Mariais Poitevin' ( the Green Venice ) a marshland area of great beauty with a labyrinth of waterways linking quaint villages through wetland forests where you can go canoeing or punting.
Medieval towns like Chauvigny, Confolens overlooking the converging rivers of the Charente and Vienne, St.Jean d'Angely with cobbled streets and gothic towers and fine cities like Cognac, the Spa town of Rochefort and walled cathedral city of Angouleme are just some of the many historical places of interest to visit for the day or simply to shop and take a liesurely lunch.
With it's wonderful warm and sunny climate, sunflower fields and vinegrowing countryside, the Logis is ideally placed for visiting the many family attractions, historical buildings and Chateaux throughout the region.
This Logis sits on the edge of a quaint village, in the lovely Boutonne valley, and close to home you will find Aulnay and Chef Boutonne forests and the 15th Century fairytale Chateau Javarzay with park and fishing lake. A short stroll along a country lane, there is the river Boutonne and woodlands with an abundance of wildlife, ideal for a picnic, walking and cycling, as well as a trout farm selling smoked and fresh fish. There are also local possibilities for tennis and horse riding.
In Chef Boutonne, a small market town located about 2km from Lussais, there are two supermarkets, a Charcuterie, Bucherie and Boulangeries as well as bars, banks, pharmacies and two restaurants. There is a weekly market here and at the nearby village of Aulnay.
Des Canards, a popular restaurant with a bar and poolside terrace, is within walking distance. There are a variety of other restaurants to choose from in the locality and other nearby towns. The nearest Boulangerie to buy your fresh bread and croissants is in Javarzay just a minutes drive in the car or a pleasant 20 min walk along a country lane beside the river
At Melle and Ruffec there are many more restaurants to choose from and for you to try the regional delicacies of oysters and mussles, snails and melon and the local Charente wine.
The region offers it all, with clean air and warm sunshine, good food and wine. There is something here for everyone to to make it a relaxing and memorable holiday.
A baby sitting service is available with a qualified nursery nurse(NNEB)from whom a reference is provided.
