Locality (close to: Ardara)
Narin, Portnoo and Rosbeg are seaside resorts in Southwest Donegal which is one of the most scenic and relaxed areas in the country. This region boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in South-west Donegal.
Ardara is one of Donegal's unique heritage town and a major centre for the manufacture of hand-woven tweed.
The importance of Ardara as a centre for the Ardara tweed industry dates back to the turn of the century. Back then, the town's weavers would come from all areas of Donegal to purchase their wares.
The Ardara heritage centre offers the visitor an insight into Donegal's past with displays of traditional crafts and old photographs. It tells the story of Donegal Tweed from the shearing of sheep to the manufacture and completion of woven cloth.
The pubs of Ardara are friendly places where the visitor can enjoy the local craic and listen to traditional Irish music and join in the fun.
Donegal offers the walking enthusiast the opportunity to discover one of the few remaining unspoiled landscapes in Europe. Whether by following way-marked (signposted) routes or simply your instinct, the visitor can explore a region that is truly breathtaking in its beauty and splendour.
