Your pleasant quarters are in the long, low longère, once the tack room for the horses of the château (and the château was the hunting lodge of Diane de Poitiers).
It’s a one-storey building, one-room wide, airy and light.
You have the bedrooms on your right and the living area on your left: a blue sofabed before a small open fire (boosted by central heating on chilly days), blue curtains, a tablecloth on a round table. Walls are white, beams dark and low, a rug adds warmth to tiles, country furniture adds personality.
The kitchen, separated by a breakfast bar, is new and well-designed with matching blue and white crockery.
The double bedroom is a good size, with a large painted wardrobe (blue, of course): crisp and cool; the twin is a lot smaller.
Locality (close to: Pernay)
According to legend, this comfortable manor house, named l'Hérissaudière, was built in 1640 on the remains of the 16th-century hunting lodge of Diane de Poitiers (c.1550).
During the second world war, it was briefly the Canadian embassy.
Today, it is a 17-acre estate where wild cyclamens grow in the shade of centuries-old sequoias.
Cultural and recreational opportunities abound. The local area is rich in castles, museums, vineyards, gardens, caves, etc. On property, guests will find a tennis court which can be hired. Bicycles (including mountain bikes) for rent, and poney rides for children, are available only 3 miles away.
Nearby, golfers will enjoy 5 golf courses.
When it comes to gastronomy, guests can choose locally between one of the best restaurants in France, and several small countryside restaurants
