This cottage is for four persons. Although consistently graded 4 Star, the cottage has recently had new kitchens fitted with gloss work-tops, halogen cookers and gorgeous granite stone sinks. The shower room has also been up-graded. The cottage has exposed beams. This one and its neighbours are 300 yards up our private drive and form part of a courtyard facing outwards over the surrounding fields and dales to give excellent views and some degree of privacy. In front of the cottages is a large grassed and garden area. There is ample area for off-road parking. The cottage is upside to take advantage from the living area on the first floor of the views and a splendid original beam. (The photo highlights this beam - everything else in the picture has been up-graded, but the beam remains the same!)

In the cottage there are seven(!) highly organised information folders, partly written by the owners themselves who are lovers of the Peak. Guests have heaped praise on this source of information which ensure that even those who have stayed with us numerous times still find plenty new to do. Events lists are supplied in advance between May and September. Housekeeping and attention to detail is regarded by the owners, who strive to encourage return visits, as being of paramount importance as is their concern is to ensure guests have an excellent holiday.

The aerial view (showing Cotterill Farm where Dale View is located, adjacent to its larger neighbour) highlights the wonderful location. There are two wild flowers meadows at this non-working farm of 12 acres, which together with two hay fields are managed under a Coutryside Stewardship Scheme. One of the meadows borders a nature reserve leading after just over a mile to the Rive Dove (at Wolfscote Dale). One mile downstream is Dovedale. The cottages are located off a quiet country lane between the highly popular village of Hartington and its smaller, quieter neighbour, Biggin. Both villages have pubs serving full meals cafes and a church. There is also an excellent restaurant about a mile away. Biggin has a lovely Hall where excellent cream teas are sold.

Numerous footpaths surround the land on which the cottages stand, offering unrivalled walking in the best part of the White Peak. The highly popular Tissington Trail, which runs for 17 miles, is used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders, and is less than 1 mile from us. Two further trails, (both of similar distance), are within 3 miles. These three tracks are ideal for family cycling, as is the network of quiet minor roads, which can be accessed at numerous points along the trails.

Buxton , Matlock, Bakewell, Ashbourne, Leek and Chatsworth House are all about 11 miles away on the edge of the Peak District at different points on the compass, confirming our claim to be very much in the heart of the White Peak area of the Peak District. (The White Peak is the area of rolling countryside, dales, streams and rivers limestone villages and dry-stone walls, which give the area so much character)

Alton Towers is within 30 minutes drive. There is more to discover within 30 minues drive of Cotterill Farm, than alsmost certainly anywhere else within the UK.
