Additional Features
- The cottages are completely self contained and centrally heated with their own front door and terrace which can be accessed through the patio doors in each of the lounges.
- We provide quality mattresses, duvets, linen and towels and for each week of your stay you will receive clean sheets and duvet covers, towels and tea towels.
- One basket of firewood and logs are provided free for Bread Cottage.
- Each cottage has its own iron and ironing board and all have access to the laundry room, which contains washing machine, and tumble dryer. We provide all washing powder etc and just ask that you put £3 in the pot next to the machines after each use.
In the lounge of each cottage you will find a folder detailing walks, the best pubs and restaurants and brochures on what to do and what is going on in the area. There is also an album of photographs that charts the progress of converting the cottages – the transformation is quite remarkable.
- In addition we provide a full English breakfast pack which includes bacon, sausages and eggs (all locally sourced), local honey, tea, coffee, sugar, butter and a pint of milk which is supplied by the local milkman and can be delivered throughout your stay if you so wish.
- There is also a games room which houses a three-quarter sized snooker table and darts board.
- Games including children’s ones and jigsaws and cards are available on request.
- All of the cottages are NO Smoking.
- Well behaved pets are always welcome.
Locality (close to: Great Canfield)
Bury Farm Cottages are located in the peaceful village of Great Canfield.
Ideally situated for Stansted Airport, Cambridge, Duxford, Colchester, Chelmsford, Saffron Walden and only an hour from Central London / West End they are hidden away along a half mile private lane and offer high quality comfort, rural views, bird watching and farm walks.
Bury Farm itself dates back to the 18th Century and has been run by the Clarke family since the 1920s. Jonathan is the third generation to be farming the land and is keen to encourage bio-diversity on the farm – new hedgerows have been planted, beetle banks and grass margins have been introduced through the Countryside Stewardship scheme to encourage an increased variety of wildlife on the farm.
An encouraging sign and a wonderful sight to behold are the little owls, which can be seen both day and night around the meadowland. Skylarks are also returning and can often be heard in the fields. We also have a number of badger sets within the surrounding area of the farm.
Footpaths criss-cross the farm giving you the opportunity to stretch the legs on a sunny summer’s morning or for the more adventurous.
Information on longer walks can be found in each cottage for you to browse through at your own convenience.
