Situated on a hill, La Haille Gîtes offers tranquil, unrivalled seclusion, peace and privacy in a rural location of 100 acres, along with an abundance of flora and fauna and a variety of wildlife including bats, squirrels, badgers, hares, foxes, roe deer, lizards, salamanders, toads, tree frogs, owls, woodpeckers, cuckoos and many other varied species of birds.
In our private woods you will find a rope swing suitable for adults and tree house from which to watch both bird and wildlife.
We also have facilities for camping and caravans.
Close to villages with all amenities and daily lively weekly markets, we are in easy access of the Pyrénées mountains, Spain, tax free Andorra and Blagnac airport, Toulouse. Auch, the principal city of the Gers, is where you will find varied activites including a paint ball and quad park, day and evening markets, many varied shops, bars, restaurants situated alongside museums, cathedrals and even one of 'The Three Musketeers', thus mixing old and new with historic Gascon culture and architecture.
There are many well marked PR walks in the area, as well as guided walks of interest covering topics such as rare Orchids, of which there are many varieties that can be found throughout the beautiful countryside along with butterflies galore and birdsong everywhere. You may also cycle or ride on horse back on these many tracks and trails and the quiet roads make the Gers an excellent area for exploring.
The owners are both qualified Initiateurs, licenced with the FFCT and are always more than happy to accompany or guide you on your outing whatever your cycling experience may be. This department is one of the least populated in France and with immediate access from the house, we can show you literally 100's of kilometres of tracks and trails tucked away in the beautiful countryside, to suit all abilities.
The Midi-Pyrénées itself has a total of 17,000 kilometres of marked paths and includes several summits that reach a height of 3,000 metres, making this region a walkers and cyclists paradise. Many major and minor routes follow the backbone of the Pyrénées, some of which can be completed in a less than a day either alone or guided.
