LA COURETTE is located adjacent to L’Amandier though being back-to-back the two cottages enjoy complete privacy one from the other.
Entry is by the owners’ main gate off the rural route from Saint Didier to Saumanes.
The gate is always locked at night.
An exclusive parking area is provided just a few steps from the cottage.
Features:
- The cottage is entered by a short staircase, just three shallow steps, from the veranda into the spacious sitting room with comfortable seating, a TV cum video and radio.
The dining area and kitchen through an arch
A stylish dining table with four chairs graces one side with a matching sideboard containing crockery, cutlery and glasses for every occasion, though sadly not the liquid contents for the latter.
- A wide arch leads to the separate kitchen equipped with cooker, fridge, microwave, washing machine and ample storage space.
Utensils and equipment are provided with serious cooks in mind.
- The well-proportioned bedroom has two single beds with side tables, dressing table, and a large wardrobe including plenty of hanging and shelf space and more to store suitcases.
- The bathroom is adjacent, with vigorous shower, WC and vanity unit.
- Outside, it is set in an orchard of fruit trees (cherries, apricots, etc), a stone wall retains privacy for both guests and owners.
Entry to the cottage is by a covered veranda that occupies an entire corner.
It opens onto a little paved courtyard (la courette, after which the cottage is named) that is flanked by the boundary wall, shrubs and trees, and the stone wall, a veritable sun-trap offering guests the choice of sun or shade.
The courtyard includes a barbecue complete with cooking tools.
Tables are provided both on the veranda and outside with chairs and two sun-loungers.
Locality (close to: Saint Didier)
Close to the lively centre of the pretty Provençal village of Saint Didier, facing vineyards and open countryside rising towards the plateau of Vaucluse, we offer two quite independent cottages, L'Amandier and La Courette, for holiday lets throughout the year.
Saint Didier with Mont Ventoux in the background Saint Didier is particularly well situated to satisfy a wide range of interests. The local scenery is fascinating, a tapestry of provençal villages set amongst vineyards, orchards, wild hills, gorges and high mountains, such as Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles de Montmirail.
Saint Didier is a thriving village based on agriculture…fruit trees, notably cherries and apricots, and vines, producing wines within the appellation of Ventoux and delicious Muscat grapes for the table. It is justly famous for its locally-made nougat. Gourmands will appreciate the region's bountiful truffes, Carpentras being an important market for this sought-after fungus known as "black diamonds".
With a population of less than 2000, it boasts three boulangeries (bread shops), two épiciers (grocers), an excellent traiteur/boucherie (butcher), newsagent, tabac, Post Office, and no less than three coiffeurs (hair-dressers). It has three cafés and two restaurants, with two of the cafés also serving a lunchtime menu du jour.
Notmore than half an hour away are the cultural cities of Avignon and Orange. Well within a day's outing are the the Luberon, the Mediterranean, Marseille, Arles, Nimes, Aix-en-Provence, St Rémy-de-Provence, Les Baux, the Ardèche, the famous vineyards of the Cotes du Rhone, and much more. It is an area that attracts ramblers, wine lovers, artists, car tourists, culture-vultures, painters, cyclists, winter skiiers, golfers, market browsers, and those who just simply like to relax in a warm and beautiful environment.
