Approached by a private access across our meadows, these adjacent gites are set within their own tree lined meadow.
Both these gites have contemporary styled interiors and each faces south, looking out towards the hills.
This southerly aspect makes it difficult to photograph the properties because of the shade under the veranda where you will find your hammock.
Each is totally independent offering similar accommodation and with their own terraced garden and barbeque areas opening onto the meadow. Both face south.
From the shady veranda and looking beyond the pointed cypress trees, there is a magnificent view across the valley to the first hills of the Cevennes. You would never guess that restaurants, shops and supermarkets are only a couple of minutes drive away.
This tranquil and beautiful setting offers abundant space, your own garden merging with the meadows.
The wooden exterior and Roman tiled veranda (with hammock) blend sympathetically with the overwhelming natural surroundings.
This is a great spot for outdoor living under your own shady mulberry tree, a real "away from it all" feeling.
Features:
- Each sleeps four comfortably, with all bedlinen provided.
- First bedroom with double bed. Shuttered windows onto meadows.
- Second bedroom with two single beds. Shuttered windows onto trees.

- Also in the grounds you will find there is fun tennis, table tennis and a boule court.(Bats and balls provided).
In the lower meadows you will find goats, geese and donkeys grazing.
There is room for children to wander in safety and freedom to search for butterflies and flowers or make "camps" or just get away from the adults for a bit!
The Pool. - 6x12m, (appr. 20x40 feet), securely fenced.
- Situated in the sheltered corner of a meadow and positioned some 50m from accommodation we are sure you'll agree that the shared pool must be one of the most beautiful settings in which to take a swim.

Locality (close to: Sauve)
Many people know the East side of the Rhone, Provence etc. You'll find this part of Languedoc to be full of magnificent scenery, great markets and wine, easy driving and a lot less tourists!
The Mas du Moulin d'Astruc is located near Sauve, about 20 minutes by car northwest of Nimes in the department of Gard in the South of France. The Sea, Avignon, Uzes, Sommiers, Arles, the Pont du Gard, Nimes, Montpellier and the flat plains of the Camargue and the mountains of the Cevenne are all within an hour by car.
The Millau Bridge is just a little further. but its a beautiful drive.
We are within three minutes drive of the local village market, supermarket, petrol station and a host of restaurants ,boulangeries and all other facilities, yet completely surrounded by countryside and well away from main roads. The driveway to the house leads from the medieval "Route Imperial" which carries just us and a few local gardener's cars and which leads to two excellent restaurants only 5 minutes pleasant walk away.
Places to see:
- Many places of natural beauty and historical interest lie within a walk from the Mas which is set within excellent walking country. Within an easy drive of the Mas is a wealth of history and culture as well as magnificent scenery and good wines.
- Sauve, our local village is beautiful. Set by the river it is unspoilt and as genuine an old village as you'll find. With bars and restaurants, shops, boulangerie and post office, it's a short walk by vineyards and riverside from your gite. Lots of local artists and "characters".
- Avignon, Arles, Uzes. The list of famous cities and towns seems endless. Papal palaces, castles, well-known vineyards, timeless street-markets and ancient houses lie round every corner.
- Pont du Gard. Probably the most spectacular Roman construction in the world. The giant via and aqueduct spans the Gardon - absolutely spectacular. From here it's a short run to Avignon
.
- The Viaduct at MILLAU It's a magnificent 1 1/2 hour drive to the highest road bridge in the world.
- Nimes has a Roman Arena and temples,( one of the best preserved in the world) winding pedestrianised backstreets with charming boutiques and pavement cafes leading off from wide boulevards. The fine Roman arena once featured Christians versus crocodiles, nowadays it houses bull-fights and jazz festivals. Nimes has some of the best shopping facilities in France, with enormous shopping malls on the outskirts, if you fancy a spree.
- The Cévennes mountains, just close by, provide fantastic walking and touring country. Old hamlets and villages cling to terraced valleys set amongst gorges and streams. Wildlife is abundant and unspoiled. Even rare Griffon Vultures and Golden Eagles can be seen soaring above this natural paradise. Several superb caves to explore. Rivers to swim in and canoe on. And unique in Europe, a giant bamboo jungle accessed by old steam train. Discover its beauty and peace for yourself.
- Camargue and Aigues-Mortes,St.Maries-de-la.Mer. The world famous Camargue national park with its wild-life, white horses, flamingos and gipsy festivals offers the visitor just about everything, especially fine beaches. Visit Aigues-Mortes, a 12th century walled crusader town on the salt marshes and the famous church, and perhaps then head for the beaches.
- The Beach - near La Grande Motte or at Espigette on the Camargue, sand-dunes give way to a clean warm Mediterranean. Great natural beaches nearby.
- Golf and other sport - there are eight golf courses within easy reach of Sauve. The nearest two at Nîmes are only 20 mins away. Lots of good river canoeing ,go-karting, rock climbing, horse riding, all available locally.
- Markets - many excellent traditional local markets offering local delicacies, Provencal prints, fresh vegitables and Mediterranaen fish (a fresh tuna steak?or perhaps sardines).
