- Second bedroom - two single beds
- Light and airy bathroom with bath, shower, WC and washbasin
- Exposed beams and original stone fireplace

Locality (close to: Surgeres)
Our self catering accommodation is in the charming hamlet of La Lemière in the Charente Maritime surrounded by sunflowers, cornfields and wild hedgerows. The area, in gently undulating countryside, has its own micro-climate, giving it almost as many sunshine hours as the Mediterranean resorts in the south of France. The hamlet benefits from no through traffic, making it peaceful and very safe for children yet it is just off the D114 between the villages of Vandré and Genouillé. Vandré has a baker and both villages have a butcher, bar/tabac and post office. Vandré also has an open-air swimming pool and there is a very pretty fishing lake set in a large area of parkland in Genouillé. Other nearby villages have their own cafes and restaurants offering reasonably priced four-course lunches and evening meals.
- Surgères: The flourishing and picturesque market town of Surgères is a 10-minute drive away.
It is well provided with all the usual amenities, including an impressive indoor market three days a week, as well as good restaurants, pavement cafes, three supermarkets and a Sports Complex including large open-air swimming pool.
- Markets: Many of the local towns have regular open-air street markets.
- La Rochelle: This popular historic town is about half an hour’s drive away. With its world-famous old port and open-air sea-food cafes it is reputed to be the most attractive and unspoilt seaside town in France
- Beaches: The Charente-Maritime prides itself on its many wonderful beaches, those nearest to us being within a 30 min drive: Châtelaillon Plage, with 3 km of beach and entertainment for children throughout the summer and the charming fishing town of Fouras, set on a peninsula, with three attractive sandy beaches which have proved popular for families with small children.
- Cognac: The second most visited city in France, with its beautiful shops and restaurants, is very popular for the imaginative guided tours of its famous distilleries and vineyards. We can offer complimentary VIP passes to the oldest distillery, Martell.
- Chateaux: There are several chateaux in the area including the beautiful Chateau de La Roche-Courbon 25mins away near St Porchaire.
- Venise Verte: To the north of La Lemière lies the large area known as the Venise Verte (sometimes called Green Venice) with its wonderful wildlife and waterways. Here there are cruises and boats for hire to take visitors along the network of leafy canals which wind through picturesque villages stopping, if wished, for refreshments or leisurely meals.
