“La Herpiniere” as it stands today was the original farmhouse on a much bigger property. Over the years land was sold to neighbouring farmers leaving the four acres that we have today.
Built in the 1800s, it is set well away from the converted barn that is the main house today. In turn, our nearest neighbour is over 300 yards away, so peace twin-bedroomand quiet is assured.
We really are in the heart of the countryside, but everything you need is only minutes away
Features
- two bedrooms, one double – complete with iron and brass bed - and one twin, both with original exposed oak beams and stonework
Restored chestnut floorboards complete the rustic appeal
- Downstairs is the living room, featuring more exposed stonework and the original huge stone fireplace complete with a cosy wood-burning stove. there is a TV providing English channels and a DVD player with a small selection of DVDs.
There are also a variety of English paperback books for you to borrow.
- The combined kitchen/dining room again has a restored hardwood floor.
The fully fitted kitchen has a range of floor and wall units, washing machine ,gas cooker , microwave and dishwasher.
The dining table is large enough to comfortably seat four people and a high chair if required.
- Gite-shower-room
Also downstairs is the large shower room/WC.
- Again the whole of the downstairs features more exposed beams.
- Bedlinen and towels may be provided, at a small additional charge.
- Electric heating is also provided for comfortable seasonal breaks together with logs for the wood burning stove!
- Outside is a patio area with table and barbecue for you to make the most of your surroundings.
The south-facing aspect also has gorgeous views over nothing but rolling countryside.
Locality (close to: Mortain)
“La Herpiniere” is conveniently located in the Manche region of Basse-Normandy midway between the pretty small towns of Mortain and Sourdeval.
The ferry ports of St Malo and Caen are within 90 minutes drive, with Cherbourg approximately two hours away. Le Havre is approximately 2.5 hours away, with Boulogne and Calais around 3.5 - 4 hours away, for those preferring a shorter channel crossing.
For those who are seeking total peace and tranquility, “La Herpiniere” has it in spadefuls, and more besides!
