Locality (close to: Cehegin)
Set on the outskirts of the traditional agricultural town of Cehegin, we offer a high standard of bed and breakfast, in a large family run Cortijo (farmhouse).
Cehegin is an ideal starting point for you to explore the surrounding countryside of Murcia.
Within easy reach are the busy towns of Mula, famous for it’s natural bath’s, Bullas, the only town in Murcia to have a “denominacion de origen” (D.O) for it’s wine, Calasparra, with it’s famous rice farms, and Caravaca De La Cruz, which is a famous pilgrimage site.
The town of Cehegin is itself a traditional Spanish agricultural town with olde world charm, there are the usual array of fine Spanish restaurants and bars, there is also a weekly market on Wednesdays, which is definitely worth a visit.
There is also a market on the last Sunday of the month in Cehegin old town, this is where you can purchase goods direct from the local craftsmen.
You can also buy sweets, bread, varied salted & cured meats, along with hand-made cheeses, liquors, honey, pottery, carvings and paintings.
Environmentally, Cehegin is one of the richest natural corners in the Murcia region, in almost 30,000 hectares, 20,000 are planted with woodland.
There are 3 footpaths between the Sierra de Burete and Sierra de la Lavia, these are signposted, leaflets and maps are available if you fancy some hillwalking.
The flora is typically Mediterranean, the fauna is diverse, from rabbits, partridges and squirrels, to golden eagles, wild boars and deer.
The area boasts rivers, lakes and reservoirs all within tranquil country settings.
