Falmouth is Cornwall’s leading south coast resort. It is based around the worlds third largest natural harbour and as a result has a wealth of maritime history. Falmouth currently enjoys a bustling waterfront with both port and marina areas and four superb bathing beaches.
Falmouth Town centre, based along the waterfront, has a bustling shopping area with a wealth of interesting shops, restaurants and watering holes of a wide variety which should suit all tastes and requirements. The atmosphere is cosmopolitan and vibrant as Falmouth has both a large yachting community, due to the marinas and an equally large student population, due to the renowned University College Falmouth School of Arts.
Falmouth is the gateway to a network of rivers and creeks and therefore offers a wealth of water based activities as well as walking and riding – both bicycle and horse. The cliff top views are spectacular, with views of wooded river country inland, and of Carrick Roads and Falmouth bay. In addition Falmouth has four central gardens two of which – Fox Rosehill and Queen Mary – are Green flag park award winners. The other vast gardens of Trelissick, Glendurgan and Trebah are also within easy reach. There is also a wealth of historic sites to visit such as Falmouth’s historic Arwenack house and Pendennis Castle. In addition Falmouth hosts The Cornwall Maritime museum, has its own Arts Centre and the only full size all weather bowling green in Cornwall.
Whetever the weather, there is always something to do...
