Rock Cottage has been in our family for over 50 years and during this time hundreds of people have taken the opportunity to experience a holiday in this idylic place. We ensure that the facilities meet today's expected high standards, and provide quality and value for money, together with 'home from home' comforts. All rooms have central heating by radiators. We have built a fine reputation and receive many repeat bookings and recommendations.
The Entrance Hall leads to the well fitted Kitchen with its wonderful view. All household essentials are in place. From the Kitchen window one may watch the many birds that visit the garden, feed on the mudflats at low tide or just contemplate the ever-changing tidal scenery.
The bathroom is ideally situated on ground floor off the Entrance Hall. It has a full white bathroom suite with over-bath electric shower, basin, and toilet, a large towel radiator, cabinet, and deep recessed window cill for storing toiletries.
The beamed Sitting Room with its original cob walls, window seats and inglenook, has a newly fitted carpeted, and is very well furnished with a comfortable three piece suite, dining table, chairs, oak sideboard and nest of tables. For extra warmth, there is an electric log effect stove complimented by a copper canopy. A flat screen 20" HD ready TV, VCR/DVD player and an up to date micro hi fi system with iPod docking are supplied. There is also a selection of books relating to the Lizard and Cornish history to enjoy.
An open-tread wooden staircase from the Sitting Room leads to the landing and two bedrooms. Both of these have superb unspoilt views of the Helford River. The triple aspect Master Bedroom has a polished wooden floor with rugs and is furnished with a 5' king size bed, oak dressing table with large mirror and matching chest of drawers, fitted double wardrobe, bedside tables and lamps. The Second Bedroom is suitable for younger persons, has two 2'6" beds, oak chest of drawers and polished wooden floor with large rug runner, and a good selection of books for them to enjoy. The airing cupboard is off this room.
A few paces from the front door, across a slate courtyard is the Garden Room. Formerly another cottage, this spacious room has a cream carpet with two 3' beds, and double quilts for extra comfort. There is a Shaker style white combination wardrobe, dressing table, large mirror and bedside cabinet. We also provide a flat screen HD ready TV with built in DVD. Three large windows overlook the sun patio, garden and River.
The terraced garden with its many species of birds and wild flowers, is enclosed by a Cornish hedge and gate. It is secluded and a perfect place to relax, paint or enjoy a barbeque. The pretty cottage garden borders, are well tended. We also have apple and plum trees, camelias, fuschias and hydrangeas as well as other colourful shrubs. In the spring the grass is a carpet of primroses followed by daffodils and bluebells!
A steep slope through the garden leads to the rocky foreshore. Here you will find 'Peggy' our rowing dinghy, useful for exploring the meandering wooded creeks. One may also catch sight of the White Egrets, Herons, Shellducks, Curlews, Oyster Catchers and other waders as well as the Kingfishers. Fishing for Grey Mullet, Sea Bass and other species is very popular from either the jetty or dinghy, while children love to dangle lines for river crabs or enjoy an adventure in the garden.
A holiday at Rock Cottage offers something for all age groups. We look forward to welcoming you to this delightful place soon. Discover the secrets for yourself!

The village of Mawgan is only a ten minute walk away. Here you will find an excellent Spar Convenience Store which is very well stocked, fresh bread, pasties, milk, papers, vegetables - everything you need. It also has a Post Office and a 'free to use' cash machine. Mawgan also has the Ship Inn serving local ales and food. The ancient church of St Mawgan is well worth a visit.
Helston (famous for its Floral Dance in early May each year), is five miles away. This has a variety of shops, including supermarkets, butches, bakers and banks.
There is something for everyone on the Lizard Peninsula; sandy beaches and coves, theme park, seal sanctuary, fishing harbours, National Trust gardens, water sports, horse riding, golf, deep sea fishing and boat trips, art galleries, local craftsmen and many miles of coastal path walks. We also have some of the best restaurants and pubs in the area.
In fact there is so much to do that many people return time and again.
