Our self-catering cottages have all been converted from the old farm buildings to provide luxury holiday accommodation whilst still retaining the charm and character of the original buildings. All cottages are centrally heated, with comfortable beds and well equipped kitchens.
Well Cottage
- a charming spacious 3 bedroom detached cottage, formerly the old cart workshop, sleeping up to 6 people.

Beech Cottage
- This is another comfortable, spacious 2 bedroom cottage sleeping 4/5 people, formerly the old stables.
- This cottage has wonderful views over the garden to the moor beyond.

- Family room with a double and a single bed, also with en suite bathroom

Fern Cottage
- A superb 1 bedroom cottage, sleeping 2 people, on the end of the old threshing barn with moorland views.

Dove Cottage
- This is our most recent conversion - a delightful 1 bedroom cottage, originally the hayloft!

All our Cottages benefit from the following extra facilities:
- Bed Linen Included - Upon arrival you well find beds made with freshly laundered linen (duvets, with blankets available)
- Laundry Room - separate, fully equipped with automatic washing machine, tumble dryer and guests pay phone.
- Ample Parking
- 11 acres of grounds which provide a safe environment for children to play in.
- Pets are welcome by arrangement at a nominal cost.
- Horse Stabling - You are welcome to bring your horse on holiday with you, stabling is available with DIY livery and a 5 acre paddock for grazing with straw (please call Jane for further information and costs).
- Games Room - centrally heated offering table tennis, pool, local information etc.
Locality (close to: Simonsbath)
Wintershead is ideally placed for touring this part of Exmoor and North Devon .
- We are only 15 minutes from the North Devon link road, which allows easy access to Barnstaple, Bideford, Bude and North Cornwall.
- The quaint old village of Clovelly is a popular tourist spot, with its steep cobbled main street and pretty harbour.
- The spectacularly rugged coastline of North Devon is a short drive away, with its wooded valleys leading down to hidden coves, and tall cliffs towering above the sea.
Local Activities
- Walking
Exmoor is a great place for walking holidays, with over 1000km of rights of way to enjoy.
The South West Coast Path from Minehead to North Devon has some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in the country, including the highest sea-cliffs in England . You can explore the coast path using public transport to discover a new section every day.
- Cycling
If you enjoy cycling or mountain biking, then Exmoor and North Devon provide a variety of challenges, from exhilarating mountain bike trails to more gentle routes along quiet country lanes. Bikes can be hired from Barnstaple, at the start of the Tarka Trail with up to 21 miles of level traffic free cycling along the Taw and Torridge estuaries.
- Horse riding
Wintershead can provide stabling facilities if you would like to bring your own horse with you on holiday. Exmoor has some of the best riding country in England , with miles of bridleways and open moorland to explore. There are many riding centres near Wintershead offering escorted rides across the moor, catering for complete beginners to experienced riders.
- Fishing
With its excellent coastline, plus many rivers, reservoirs and small lakes, Exmoor is a fisherman's delight, offering fly fishing, coarse fishing, and sea fishing. You will need a rod licence and permit, depending on where you want to fish. Sea fishing trips can be booked at Porlock Weir, Lynmouth, and Ilfracombe.
- Surfing and Bodyboarding
North Devon 's beaches are a surfer's paradise, especially Woolacombe and Croyde beaches, both just a short distance from Wintershead. For less experienced surfers, or those wishing to improve their skills, try one of the surf schools
- Wimbleball Lake Angling and Watersports Centre
This is a large lake in the Exmoor National Park , surrounded by woodland and meadows, providing opportunities for walking, angling and watersports.
