Locality (close to: Arisaig)
Kilmartin Guest House at Kinloid Farm, Arisaig, is located on the Road to the Isles, on the beautiful Moidart Peninsula.
This is an area closely associated with Prince Charles, "Bonnie Prince Charlie" and the 1745 Rising. It was not far from here that the bonnie prince landed to embark upon his romantic mission - and it was from here that he finally departed Scotland as a hunted fugitive.
From Arisaig and Mallaig you can sail to the picturesque, small Isles of Eigg, Rum, Muck and Canna. The West Highland Railway line from Fort William to Mallaig is arguably the most beautiful rail journey in the world (and featured in the films Harry Potter and the the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Travelling the "Road to the Isles" it provides mountain, loch and seascape views which are unrivalled and which may be viewed from a modern observation coach or romantic steam train.
The dramatic skylines of the Isle of Skye and the Small Isles are worth seeing at any time, but particularly so when highlighted against a typical West Highland sunset.
Hillwalking, fishing, birdwatching (the Golden Eagle may be spotted), and golf may be enjoyed and the safe sandy beaches and crystal clear waters provide their own joys for all the family.
Loch fishing may be had on Loch Morar, where boat hire is available (and watch out for Nessies' cousin Morag, the Loch Morar Monster).
